Effective 5 October 2026 · App: SAOLA · Developer: Saola Wildlife
SAOLA is a free wildlife exploration app. No account is required. It has no advertisements, analytics SDK, paid features or subscriptions, and does not request your device location. Route planning is marked Coming soon and disabled in this release.
Your Seen species, imported life-list names, groups, preferences and downloaded country packs are stored locally. SAOLA does not upload your personal species list or groups to us. CSV imports are processed on your device. You can correct Seen entries, export a backup using Android's file picker, or remove local data through Android's app settings. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes local records. Android may back up personal SQLite data and WebView preferences/local storage, depending on your device and Google backup settings; export destination and retention depend on the storage provider you choose.
Online background tiles contact OpenStreetMap. Pack availability checks and downloads contact GitHub, or a custom HTTPS catalog only if you configure one. Requests can disclose the requested map area or country pack, your IP address, device/browser technical information and the app's user agent. Providers may keep request logs under their own policies. These requests do not contain your Seen list or groups. Prepared species portraits load from the app or downloaded packs; browsing species does not query external photo providers. Uncached background tiles require internet access.
Choosing Support SAOLA opens the external Stripe Payment Link in your browser. Merely opening SAOLA's Support page makes no Stripe request. Payments are voluntary and unlock no features or content. Payment information is entered directly with Stripe under its terms and privacy policy; SAOLA does not receive payment details through the Android application and has no payment SDK or payment callback. Stripe and the project may retain support-transaction information to process support, answer queries and meet applicable record-keeping requirements. The browser/payment provider controls its own cookies and technical data.
Contact SAOLA opens your email application addressed to hello@saolawildlife.com. No email is sent automatically. If you send us a message, we use it to respond and retain correspondence as needed to handle it. Share only information you wish to include. Contact about your own photos or recordings starts a conversation; emailing media does not automatically publish it or grant usage rights.
Your personal list and groups remain on your device until you remove them or delete the app's local data. SAOLA does not sell your personal data or operate an account/list-sync server. External websites, original photo sources and licence links open only when you choose them and follow those services' policies. For questions or requests about correspondence or support records held by the project, contact hello@saolawildlife.com. We may update this policy when the app changes and update its effective date.
